Montana State University Freshman and Premier Scholarships

Montana State University Presidential Scholarship
Deadline: December 1

Amount: Includes a full tuition waiver as well as a generous stipend renewal for four years. Eligibility: Must apply for admission to MSU as entering freshman, have a cum. GPA of 3.75 or higher and a composite score of 30 on the ACT or 2000 on the SAT. MONTANA STATE UNIVERSITY-BILLINGS SCHOLARSHIPS:

New Student Scholarships at MSU Billings

Complete and submit the application for admission along with the scholarship application. Scholarships will be awarded on an ongoing basis with the initial review of applications beginning in December. Priority will be given to those who apply by February 1. MSU-Billings Chancellor's Excellence Award Application

The Chancellor's Excellence Awards are Montana State University Billings' most prestigious scholarship awards, recognizing academic achievement as well as leadership qualities.  Chancellor's Excellence Awards will be awarded each year to freshmen entering Montana State University Billings in September.  Recipients receive $4,000 per academic year.  Scholars who meet or exceed all of the renewal criteria may expect to have their awards renewed for four years for a maximum award of $16,000.  To apply for the Chancellor's Excellence Awards visit  :http://www.msubillings.edu/scholarships/ChancellorExcellence.htm

UNIVERSITY OF MONTANA SCHOLARSHIPS:

Montana Resident Entering Student Scholarship Program
Deadline: Awarding begins Nov. 15th

The Montana Resident Entering Student Scholarship Program draws together many endowed scholarships and donations into a single scholarship pool. New freshman and new transfer students are eligible. The student's application to UM serves as the scholarship applications. Scholarships range from $1,000 - $3,000.

Davidson Honors College Presidential Leadership Scholarship--U of M
Deadline: December 

The Presidential Leadership Scholarship is the University of Montana's premier academic scholarship, recognizing outstanding talent, academic performance and contribution to the community. To apply for the Davidson Honors College Presidential Leadership scholarship, complete the Davidson Honors College (DHC) application form at www.dhc.umt.edu/scholarships/  Must be planning to attend U of M as a freshman in the fall. A minimum 3.5 GPA, ACT composite score of 27 or a SAT combined score of 1800 is expected.  These criteria are not absolute, and highly motivated students are encouraged to apply.

Merit Scholarships--Carroll College

Montana Advantage Award

The Walmart Associate Scholarship is a college scholarship that is available to high school senior dependents of associates in any division of Walmart and Sam’s Club. Montana Women Foundation Scholarship
Accepting Applications: November 1st-February 1st 2019

This is a $500.00 to $1000.00 scholarship designed to provide assistance for the success of Montana women of all ages. It is the goal of the Foundation to encourage these women to then give back to their communities by helping fellow Montana women in need, no matter their social, economic or cultural differences. The Foundation promotes positive feedback and a circle of giving. Applicants must be female and residents of Montana for the past three years, and the education to be funded by the scholarship must be obtained in the state of Montana. Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarship

Amount: Havre Elks Lodge jurisdiction will include 6 winner (3 male, 3 female) who will receive at least $200.00 each and will advance on to the Elk State competition. AXA Achievement Scholarship

Annual Ag Banquet Scholarship

The Ag Committee of the Great Falls Chamber of Commerce awards four $1,000 scholarships on an annual basis to individuals in Great Falls and Golden Triangle counties seeking a career in the agriculture industry. NFIB Young Entrepreneur Award

The NFIB Young Entrepreneur Foundation is accepting applications for the NFIB Young Entrepreneur Awards. Any high school senior may apply online for a chance to win a scholarship valued from $1000-$10,000. NFIB Young Entrepreneur Awards are open to any graduating high school senior entering their freshman year at an accredited (not for profit) two-or four-year university, college or vocational/technical institute. Applicant should demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit and intiative such as: starting own business (design website, lawn mowing, dog walking, tutoring) or participation in organizations such as DECA. American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees

AFSCME Family Scholarship Program awards ten $2000 scholarships to high school seniors that will be renewed for $2000 each year for a maximum of four years, provided the student remains in a full-time course of study. Student must be a graduating senior and must be a daughter, son or financially dependent grandchild of an active or retired AFSCME member. The student ust also be an applicant to an accredited college or university and subsequently accepted as a full-time student in a four year degree program. Lee Magnon Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must be enrolled full-time as an udergraduate at an accredited two- or four-year college or university. Applicants must be studying engineering and/or science at their chosen school. Applicanst must have permanent residence in the NACE Central Area which includes the following states: Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program

This national program awards college scholarships to high school seniors who embody the characteristics of President Reagan at school, in the community, in the workplace, and at home. They are looking for students with: leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship. Recipients receive $10,000 renewable scholarships - up to $40,000 per student. Montana Jaycee Foundation

Must be a graduating high school senior, residing in Montana, who will be enrolling in first year of full-time study at an accredited post-secondary college, university, or vocational school. Gates Millennium Scholars

Montana Electric Cooperatives'Association (MECA)

Montana Electric Cooperatives' Association (MECA), of which Hill County Electric Cooperative (HCE) is a member, will again be awarding two scholarships in the amount of $500 each. Applicants or applicants' parents or guardians must be a member of an electric cooperative that belongs to MECA. Youth Serve Montana Scholarship

Up to 100 students will receive a $1000 scholarship.  Applicant must submit a completed application and proof of acceptance to one of Montana's Campus Compact member institutions, must have completed 100 hours of volunteer service within a 12 month period  (12 months is defined as the period 12 months prior to the date of application) and must be of high school senior status. Basin Electric Scholarship

P.L.A.Y. Scholarship

The contest is open to U.S. residents. No purchase necessary. All participants must be enrolled as full-time high school juniors or seniors. To apply, students will submit an essay with 2-3 photos of their volunteer efforts to help animals in need and how that involvement has changed their lives or shaped their perceptions on the importance of animal welfare. MACD Scholarship

Montana Association of Conservation DistrictsTwo $500 Scholarships are available for Montana student--high school seniors or students who are attending accredited post secondary institution in Montana may apply.  Eligibility requirements include: US citizenship, Montana residency, minimum grade point average of 3.0, and enrollment or plans to enroll in a course of study that allows students to explore natural resource issues. NSHSS Andeavor Youth Leadership Awards

Andeavor Industries is providing college scholarships for outstanding young leaders. This new scholarship has been launched to encourage young scholars who are leading by example in their schools and communities. Paul O’Leary Memorial – Idaho/Montana Section Named Scholarship

Amount:  award of $500 is for tuition and fees only, and will be paid directly to the academic institution by the AWS Foundation. This scholarship honors Paul’s dedication to hard work, academics, welding, and his love for Montana. To be considered for this scholarship one must provide evidence of a strong work background, hands-on welding experience, academic excellence, and a residency or college tie to Montana.  The scholarship will be awarded to assist Montana linked welding or metallurgy students. 1. Applicant must be a minimum of eighteen years of age. 2. Applicant must have a minimum high school diploma. 3. Applicant must have a 2.5 overall grade point average with a minimum of 3.0 in welding or metallurgy courses. 4. Student must be enrolled full time in a 2- or 4-year welding or metallurgy program. 5. Proof of financial need is required to qualify. 6. Applicant must submit all required application information. 7. Farm Credit Services Scholarship
To be eligible for the program, students must be a:

  • Son or daughter of a current Northwest Farm Credit Services' customer
  • Current customer or customer's spouse returning to higher education
  • Current customer's employee or employee's son or daughter
  • High school senior or a college junior, sophomore or freshman (when applying) 
  • Scholarship winners will be selected based on school and community involvement, scholastic performance, and educational goals and needs. Any career or major is eligible; however, a preference will be given to those students who plan to pursue an ag-related career.

Montana Farmers Union Scholarship

Two $500 scholarships are made available through the special efforts of the Education Committee and Montana Farmers Union. Must be a high school graduate planning to attend a university, college, community college or college of technology in or out of state; the scholarship must be used the year it is awarded; and Montana Farmers Union family membership dues must be current. John Korsbeck Memorial Scholarship

FRS Scholarship
Deadline: March 1

Another scholarship available to dependents of TTC and CMC subscibers graduating from high school is the Foundation for Rural Service scholarship. This program will award twenty-five $2000 scholarships nationally. TTC and CMC will make a $500 matching contribution if one of the winners is from our service area, bringing the total award to $2500. National Independent Automobile Dealers Association Scholarship
Deadline: March

The NIADA Foundation proudly sponsors four young men or women each year who have displayed outstanding abilities in education. These students will each receive a $3,500 scholarship to the college or university of their choice. Montana University System (MUS) Honor Scholarship

Students wanting to apply for the MUS Honor Scholarship must register and apply on-line at www.scholarship.mt.gov   Once they have registered and completed the online information, the STUDENT must print and mail the application and other required materials directly to: MGSLP-Scholarship Department, PO Box 203101, Helena, MT 59620-3101 If a student is applying for the MUS Honor Scholarship, Mrs. Spinler must sign the applications to certify a student met the Rigorous Core requirement and have been enrolled at an accredited MT high school for the 3 years prior to graduation.  MUS Honor Scholarship recipients will be selected based upon GPA and ACT or SAT scores.  A student must have a minimum GPA of 3.40.  Prospective recipients must be US citizens and meet Board of Regents' rigorous core policy requirements.

 

Montana Clerk and Recorder's Association Scholarship
Deadline: March 15, 2019

The MCAR is offering a $1000 scholarship to a graduating senior who will be attending an in-state (Montana) school.  Applications are to be returned to the Hill County Clerk and Recorder, 315 4th St.  Havre, MT  59501   Applications are available in Mrs. Spinler's office.

his program is specifically aimed at students who have confronted and overcome adversity in their young lives. 50 students from across Montana will be selected to each receive a $12,000 scholarship and have the honor of being named as a Horatio Alger Montana Scholar. The scholarships can be utilized to pursue higher education at the University of Montana, the University of Montana Western, Missoula College – University of Montana, Helena College – University of Montana, Montana Tech, Montana State University, Montana State University Billings, Montana State University Northern and Great Falls College – Montana State University. NIADA/ Manheim Regional Scholarship

The NIADA Foundation proudly sponsors four young men or women each year who have displayed outstanding abilities in education.  To be eligibile, individuals must be classified as a high school senior residing in one of the four aforementioned regions, have maintained an outstanding academic achievement record as reflected by an official high school transcript, demonstrate an aptitude for college work as measured by SAT or ACT scores.  This is 3,500 scholarship sponsored by Manheim to the college or university of their choice. Odd Fellow and Rebekah Lodges of Montana

Montana Food Distributers Association (MFDA) Scholarships

The MFDA awards four scholarships annually in the amount of $1500 each.  Nominees should be associated with the Food industry either by employment or family relationships within the industry.  For example, applicants or their parents or both who are employed at MFDA member businesses are eligible.  For an application and additional application guidelines, see Mrs. Spinler.

Kids' Chance of America Scholarship

This scholarship was organized to assist children who have had a parent killed or severely injured on the job. Applicant must be between the ages of 16-26 years of age., must have a high school diploma, GED, HiSet, or be a high school student in good standing (who will graduate in the current academic year), and be a dependent of a parent or guardian who sustained a serious work-related injury or fatality. Montana Community Foundation's Scholarship Program

Applications for the Montana Community Foundation's scholarship program are now available online athttps://www.mtcf.org/Grants-Scholarships/Apply-for-a-Scholarship  Awards range between $500-$5,000 and all awards are designated to specifically benefit Montana students. Amount-$1000.  The scholarship will be awarded to one or more individuals having a permanent disability. Hi-Line Health Foundation

The Dr. R.S. Buker, Jr. Medical Loan is awarded for books and tuition to applicants wishing to enroll in college in a medical field.  The Hattie Gustafson Medical Loan is awarded to a graduate of Hill or Liberty County schools who is interested in a profession in the medical field.  Repayment of loans is established dependent upon completion of the academic program and whether the student returns to work at Liberty Medical Center or Hill County Medical facilities.  Please visit http://hilinehealth.org/ or pick up an application at the foundation office.  Applications are also available in Mrs. Spinler's office.

Stanley Moore National Scholarship

As a boy, Stanley Moore (1921-2000) traveled with his grandfather, C.C. Talbott, who was a principal organizer and the first president of the North Dakota Farmers Union. Moore held many leadership positions throughout his life. Moore was a strong advocate of education and this scholarship provides a lasting memorial in honor of his achievement and dedication to Farmers Union.   Eligibility: Open to Farmers Union members and their children and any high school senior, college student or non-traditional student seeking funding to attend a two-four year accredited college, university or technical school for any area of study. This scholarship is funded by the Nellie Strissel Memorial Fund.

The applicant must be a graduating senior of North Star High School and plans to attend any college or technical school. All students are encouraged to apply, yet preference will be given to students who have lettered in Speech and Drama and/or participated in any North Star drama production.
